Engineering, Science, Technology, and Social Sciences

Today, the word “scientist” applies to many different types of jobs. People employed in engineering jobs can rightly be called scientists. Professionals in fields like biology, zoology, botany, geology and physics are scientists. Anthropologists, archeologists, sociologists and other social scientists are an important part of science as well. And the technologists, technicians, and researchers who work in these industries are also scientists.

Most jobs in engineering, technology and the sciences require a college degree or other advanced training, although some technician jobs provide on-the-job training and are available without advanced study.
