Two Surveyors
Steve Perron, a Canadian cartographic technician, uses his skills in surveying to map the forest areas in Quebec for the Ministry of Natural Resources. He works as part of a team with the goal of monitoring forest growth and assessing resources. He relies heavily on his computer, using geomatics software and extracting information from a database.
Another Canadian, David Cody, is mapping the coast of Nova Scotia for the government. Using photogrammetry, he is producing 117 maps of the coastal waters belonging to Canada to the twelve-mile limit. Water mapping, or hydrography, is important to the maritime provinces, which rely heavily on fishing.
