INSURANCE AGENT

Salary

Insurance agents who work for a company are usually compensated through a combination of salary and commission. Most of them earn about $40,000 their first year, in addition to receiving benefits. Agents in a company can work their way into management positions.

Independent agents are paid solely on commission, a percentage of the premiums paid by the clients. They don't receive benefits, but they may receive higher commissions than do salaried workers.
