Salary

Drivers are generally paid an hourly wage or commission per trip in addition to tips from passengers. As a result, it's difficult to determine exact incomes. However, the government estimates the median income for limo drivers to be $8.58 an hour. Self-employed drivers earn between $25,000 and $50,000 per year. Some companies work on a lease basis where drivers lease the vehicle from them for a set fee. Drivers then set their rates and keep whatever they earn after the fee is paid off. Most drivers work long shifts, which are not subject to federal regulations. In many cases, this means ten- to twelve-hour days or longer, with the day starting in the wee hours of the morning or lasting well past midnight. You need to remain alert and professional at all times.
