Job Description, Education And Training, Salary, Diner Lingo, For More InformationOutlook

For the record, there is a difference between a chef and a cook. We'll discuss chefs and their responsibilities a little later. Cooks can be found in diners, chain restaurants, burger joints, and fast-food restaurants. They can also be found in large institutions, such as schools, hospitals, camps, and companies.

Outlook

Fifty-four billion meals are eaten in school cafeterias and work lunchrooms every year. That's billions of hamburgers and slices of pizza. There is usually work to be found for cooks because many people move in and out of the industry. If business slows in one area, a cook may have to move to where the work is.
