LEATHER CRAFTER

Salary

“Leather workers will probably start at minimum wage and move up the pay scale as they gain skill and experience,” says Keach. “On the custom side, each individual leather artist is free to determine his or her hourly rate and the price of their own work. A custom-made saddle can sell for thousands of dollars, as can a large leather art piece.” According to the Crafts Report's 1999 Insight Survey, people who sold leather crafts earned an average of $28,167 per year.
