CHAPTER
11
ON TOUR
It takes a diverse group of individuals to form
the team whose common goal it is
to put on a great show. This chapter discusses
jobs involved in the rehearsal and
design of a tour, individuals whose task it is
to promote concerts, and the people who
travel on the road to make it all happen. The
chapter covers five areas: Rehearsal and
Storage Facility; Production; Promoter and
Venue; Crew; and Musicians.
REHEARSAL AND STORAGE FACILITY
Spacious rooms in rehearsal facilities are
generally rented for recording artists to
use in the staging and rehearsing of live
shows. Space might also be rented to audi-
tion new band members, or to stage a showcase
or private performance. Most facili-
ties also rent lockers where touring and studio
musicians can store gear; provide
cartage service, and rent back-line
equipment.
