Robots at Work

Service Robots

Currently, robots are being used to clean sewers, inspect the aluminum skin of jet airliners, mow lawns, and vacuum homes and industrial sites. These domestic robots are equipped with sensors that allow them to avoid collisions and maneuver without incident. Wakamaru, by Mitsubishi, can recognize faces and speech and is designed to care for the elderly and disabled. Robots of all kinds are being marketed in toy and hobby stores: robot pets, butlers, gladiators, and vehicles.
