MODEL, DEMONSTRATOR, AND PRODUCT PROMOTER

Education And Training

Models don't need any special training to begin their career. However, becoming a model is not something that everyone can do. Models need to be attractive and physically fit. In general, fashion models need to be tall and thin.

Modeling schools are one way to get training and experience as a model. Going to a school is not always a requirement, though. Most modeling agencies give their models all the training they need, so paying for an expensive school isn't necessary. Getting an agent is an important first step to beginning a modeling career. Agents can help you to get work and advise you on your career. Check the For More Information section for books and Web sites that can tell you more about finding an agent.

To be a product promoter or demonstrator, you need a high school degree and good communication skills. Most product promoters get their training on the job. The stores or companies they work for teach them about the products that they will be selling. Demonstrators sometimes need special skills, such as cooking.

Being able to speak well and convince people to buy your product are the most important parts of the job of a product promoter or demonstrator. To prepare, it's a good idea to take public speaking courses or drama classes. These will help you to become comfortable speaking in front of groups. Voice or dance lessons can also be helpful.
