THEATRICAL PRESS AGENT
Tips For Writing A Press Release
- Date the press release and mark it FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
- Be concise. Try to get the information on one page. Many busy people won't look past the first sheet. Take out the fancy language.
- Use a hook. Start the release with something that will make the recipient want to read more. This could be a little-known fact about the show, an interesting personal quirk of one of the cast, or an anecdote about the writing of the show.
- Remember the Ws—who, what, where, when, and why. Boldface the important dates and times so they stand out.
- At the top of the page, put a contact name, phone number, fax number, and e-mail address.
