The most recent statistics from the Department of Labor indicate that employment opportunities for chefs are expected to be plentiful in the coming years. There is a substantial amount of turnover in the food industry, so dedicated and persistent people who stay involved long enough can rise to the top with some smarts and a good book of recipes. Besides working in a traditional restaurant, chefs have the added options of heading up cooking lines in hospitals, colleges, and casinos. Some chefs also decide to take their skills to the classroom and pass these skills on to a whole new generation of hopeful culinary whiz kids.
