While woodcarvers usually work by hand using tools such as chisels and knives, sometimes carvers use power tools. The woodcarvers who use machines can choose from chainsaws, jigsaws, and sanders, depending on the scale of their project. Sometimes the creations of woodcarvers are for decoration, and other times they are meant to be used. Woodcrafters may carve animals, statues, figures, and walking sticks, or they may construct cabinets, bookcases, tables, chairs, or doors.
