ACTOR

The Agent

You will need to list with a talent agent to get work as an actor. Not every agent out there will be interested in representing you. If you live in Chicago, seek representation from as many agencies as you can. This is called multi-listing. Please note that you can only multi-list in Chicago. You will get blacklisted (marked for exclusion from work) if you try to do this in either Los Angeles or New York.

Acting can be one of the toughest film and television fields to break into. If it is what you want to do, however, do not give up. Continue to wait on tables or work for the temp agency. Be persistent with the agents. Remember, however, that there is a difference between being persistent and being obnoxious. One will help you get work; the other will not.
