CARPENTER

Job Duties

Carpentry is a division of the construction trade. Carpenters are involved in a variety of different tasks, all related to the construction of buildings. The tasks they are expected to do vary, but generally, carpenters read blueprints to figure out what they will be assembling. Then they cut and measure wood and other materials to fit the specifications in the blueprints. They assemble the materials using nails, glue, and other joining agents. Then they check their work to make sure it has been assembled properly.

So, what do carpenters assemble? Carpenters are called in to install stairs, door frames, hardwood floors, cabinets, and many other things inside the home. They also perform work outside, such as installing exterior trim.

Carpenters who work outside the construction industry have different responsibilities. Sometimes they build furniture. Other times they're called to replace floor tiles or windowpanes. These carpenters have much more freedom in choosing their jobs because they're not limited to helping out with the construction of buildings. For people who love to build things from wood, this is the ideal situation. As you can see, the job of a carpenter consists of doing many different things.
